Permanent Assistant School Keeper

Hours: 20 hours per week with additional overtime and lettings as required

Grade: Grade 2-3, point 14-17 depending on experience x 41 weeks per year

Salary: £18,657 - £19,623 pro rata (£9,243 - £9,722 per annum, actual salary)

We wish to appoint a highly motivated, caring and committed person to work in our friendly and supportive schools assisting our School Keeper to make sure that the schools sites are safe, secure and ready for use by pupils, staff and other school users. The person we are looking for should be flexible, self-motivated an able to use their own initiative, taking pride in their work.

The successful candidate must have good general maintenance skills and some knowledge of health & safety legislation and procedures would be desirable. 

The main responsibilities of an Assistant School Keeper will usually include:

  • Locking and unlocking of the schools
  • Cleaning, including cleaning at height
  • Emergency repairs
  • Site safety and security
  • Portering, which may include heavy lifting
  • Monitoring the use of the school site by other peope
  • :Lettings in addition to working hours
