Our recent Ofsted inspection has judged the school as securely GOOD. We develop resilience and determination in the students’ learning and have been recognised for the good progress being made. We have set a culture of high expectations for all our pupils.

We are looking for an Assistant SENCO to lead SEN learning and support.

What you will need to succeed:

The Assistant SENCO will - under the direction of Deputy Head of School (Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare) - be responsible for:-

· Ensuring effective systems of communication, including feedback about students learning to inform future planning

· Monitoring the quality of SEN support by establishing effective systems to identify and meet the needs of students, whilst ensuring that the systems are coordinated, evaluated and regularly reviewed.

· Ensure that the objectives of the SEN policy are reflected in the school improvement plan. Liaise with and coordinate the contribution of external agencies

· Up to date knowledge of National and local initiatives which may impact upon policy and practice

You will need to be committed to getting the best outcomes for pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school. The ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively, whilst maintaining the highest level of confidentiality at all times and ensuring safeguarding and equality throughout the school.

Qualifications:

· ‘C’ grades or above at GCSE level (or equivalent) in Science, English and Maths

Experience and skills:

The ideal candidate will have:

· Experience of working at a whole school level ideally in a position of responsibility

· Knowledge/qualifications in SEN

· Experience of SEN coordination

· Experience of line managing support staff
