Job overview

The St Neots Learning Partnership is a Multi- Academy Trust consisting of two secondary schools in St Neots: Longsands Academy and Ernulf Academy, who work closely together to provide the best possible education for the young people of St Neots.  This is an exciting period of change and development at the Trust and a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to be part of developing SEND department at Ernulf.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Assistant SENDCo following the retirement of our existing, long-serving colleague. Supporting the SENDCo, you will lead a team of committed Teaching Assistants and liaise with a wide variety of outside agencies in order to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You should be flexible, creative and enthusiastic and you would need to have the determination to see that all students with special educational needs fulfil their potential.

At a whole school level, you will be supported by driven, caring and dedicated teaching staff who deliver quality-first teaching in the classroom. Working closely with the SENDCo, you will support, advise and guide them to meet student needs and to further develop their knowledge and skills around Special Educational Needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and current SEN legislation, and you will have a good understanding of the needs of SEN pupils and their parents. Good organisational and communication skills are essential, and you will have a proven track record as a Teaching Assistant who has undertaken additional responsibilities over and above usual classroom duties. The HLTA qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.

At Ernulf Academy, you can expect a supportive culture within an Academy with very high aspirations. We value our staff and there are many development opportunities.

This role will be remunerated at Level 4, Higher Level Teaching Assistant scale –points 22 to 26. The contract is for term time plus 1 week (39 weeks per year), 32.5 hours per week. The actual salary range (pro rata for term time) is £17,594 – £19,924.

The St Neots Learning Partnership expects all staff to share a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
