The jobholder will be required to work flexibly with the distribution of working hours varying across the academic year in line with examination periods (Nov, Jan, Feb, May & June) and results days (August). Part-time contract will be based on an average of 24 hours per week (936 hours per year). Hitchin Boys™ School (HBS) is an outstanding and over-subscribed comprehensive school with a mixed sixth form, which forms part of the highly successful Hitchin Schools™ Consortium. We are now seeking a part-time Examinations Assistant to support the Examinations Officer in the efficient administration, organisation and conduct of public and internal examinations.

Key duties include:

  • Liaison with SLT, Key Curriculum Leaders and other relevant staff regarding examination entries, coursework and assessment procedures and protocols to ensure the smooth running of the examination cycle at all key stages.
  • Assist with entries for internal and external examinations.
  • Assist with the production and dissemination of student and school examination timetables.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENDCo to process Access Arrangements and assist the Examinations Officer to ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and reasonable adjustments are provided as detailed by the SENDCo.
  • Download all relevant base data into SIMs Exams Management system, keeping up to date records and procedure for JCQ onsite inspection.
  • Support management of Examination Invigilators including induction, training, timesheets, rota etc.
  • Ensure that all required information is obtained and submitted accurately and within set deadlines in relation to examination entries, changes, withdrawals, remark requests and assessment data.
  • Assist in the downloading, printing and sorting of results on exam results download days.
  • Assist with the distribution of exam results and respond to queries from students, staff and parents on exam publication days.
  • Collation and distribution of all examination certificates, maintaining accurate record keeping.
  • Other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, in consultation with line manager. as required. The Exams office is a very busy environment where attention to detail, confidentiality, liaising with Teachers, students, parents and Examination Boards play an important part to the role. The successful candidate will need to be confident in the use of IT and in dealing with parents, students, colleagues and outside agencies. What can HBS offer you?
