Assistant Vice Principal: specific responsibility for Science

Rated by Ofsted as 'good' in all areas (Dec 2016), Westlands Academy is part of the Horizons Specialist Academy Trust. Providing for students aged 11 to 16 years who have SEMHD (as well as other learning difficulties), they are looking to recruit an experienced and inspirational leader to join their successful team.

In addition to supporting in the management and leadership of the Academy, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Science curriculum, monitoring standards and providing strategic direction for the development of the subject.

Successful candidates will:

• Have experience of working with students with special educational needs, in particular SEMHD and associated learning difficulties.
• Be an outstanding and experienced practitioner.
• Provide effective leadership in raising standards of attainment and achievement.
• Work collegiately to build on the strengths of the Academy and Trust.
