Job overview

We are looking to appoint an Associate Teacher to supervise classes and lead learning during the short-term absence of teachers in our pioneering KS3 Opening Minds cross-curricular delivery team from September 2017.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate very good classroom management and ensure that the work set by staff is completed to a high standard by students. The post will also entail some in-class support during lessons, working with small-groups or creating/producing resources, when the demand for cover lessons is low. The post holder would also be expected to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.

This role would be ideal for any graduate considering a career in teaching and/or planning to seek a place on an ITT/PGCE course in the future.

Previous experience of working with young people would be advantageous.   Excellent communication skills and an ability to develop a positive rapport with students and teaching staff are essential.

The post holder should:

  • Be qualified to degree level
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have the confidence to guide and lead young people
  • Have evidence of excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Have good ICT skills
  • Be an excellent role model for students
  • Be actively considering teaching as a career.

If you believe that you are the right person for this role, then you should apply using the teaching application form attached, which can also be found on our school website, together with a job description & a person specification.
