We are building a team of non-teaching support staff at Olive Academies who are confident and enthusiastic about delivering alternative provision in Thurrock. 

We work with people who are determined to improve the life chances of young people aged 11 to 16 with social, emotional and mental health challenges. 

We are delighted to offer an excellent opportunity for an outdoor practitioner/enthusiast to be part of our academy outdoor adventure programme. 

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the benefits of working in the outdoors and how this can bring positive effects to our young people and help improve staff well-being. This is an opportunity to bring the passion of the outdoors and expeditionary learning into the classroom and take learning in the classroom outside. 

Instructors will work with young people aged 11 to 16 years. Olive Academies places an emphasis on character development, and values developing the whole student to help prepare them for later life and the challenges and opportunities this may hold. Therefore, we are looking for someone who can model and encourage traits such as leadership, communication, determination, ambition, reflection, empathy and conviction. Experience of instructing young people in an outdoor learning environment is both classroom and field based is essential.

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock

Just 40 minutes from central London by train, Olive AP Academy - Thurrock is based in Tilbury. Our brand new building opened to staff and students in summer 2017. The academy was graded as 'Good' in all areas at its last Ofsted inspection in December 2018.

We work with pupils who have been permanently excluded from school and those who have medical needs.  Our alternative provision academy has up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16 on roll at any one time. 

Olive AP Academy – Thurrock is part of the Olive Academies Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), approved by the Department for Education. Established in 2013, it is one of the first academy sponsors specialising in alternative provision in England.
