Asymptomatic Testing Staff

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours: Part-time, dependant on the needs of the school 

Rate: £10 - £15 per hour

Crown Hills community College is responding to the Government's requirement to provide asymptomatic testing for staff and students onsite by creating an Asymptomatic Testing Team.  From 11th January 2021 a testing programme has commenced using existing staff.  We are keen to expand the team in the long term to reflect the large number of tests required when schools reopen fully after lockdown.  To support the transition between the current team and a larger team, we are initially looking to appoint two external staff. 

Applicants will need to either have a Enhanced DBS through Leicester City Council, be on the DBS Update Service or be willing to undertake a new check.

Applicants will also be required to complete online COVID Testing training. 

PPE will be provided.  


Responsibilities: 

•Carrying out routine Lateral Flow COVID-19 testing on a daily basis to staff and students as required. 

• Providing medical swabs for individuals and directing/assisting them to carry-out self-tests. 

• Providing reassurance, guidance and supervision to individuals on swabbing, as requested and required. 

• Processing swabs, and interpreting results ensuring they are ready for recording. 

• Cleaning swabbing bays/spaces, ensuring all areas are clean and as COVID-19 safe as possible. 

• Ensuring that consent forms have been obtained and relevant documents shared before carrying out testing. 

• Proactively updating all documentation, as required daily. 

• Ensuring that all areas are stocked with equipment required for the process. 

• Maintaining universal precautions and disposal of waste in accordance with the infection control policy


Experience, Training and Qualifications: 

• COVID Testing Training, can be offered on site but preferably before appointment

• A scientific background would be advantageous 

• Safeguarding Children Training 

• A flexible and self-motivated individual who has the ability to think on their feet 

 To be eligible for this role, candidates must: 

• Hold the right to work in the UK 

• Have an Enhanced Child DBS, be on the Update Service or be willing to undertake a new DBS application 

• Provide a minimum of 2 professional references 

• Complete relevant training required for role
