Primary Purpose of the Role

Attendance

• Ensure all registers are taken accurately for all lessons including registration

• Deal with missing marks

• Contact all parents/carers if they have not informed the school of their child’s absence

• Arrange attendance meetings and take minutes in consultation with the Assistant Headteacher

• Produce confirmation of attendance letters/certificates 

• Produce and monitor the staged letter process, in consultation with senior staff

• Provide court reports for those parents who are being taken to court

• Provide data for governors

Safeguarding

• Monitoring of the My Concern system

• Managing referrals to external agencies

• Ensuring all knowledge and training is up to date liaising with the office manager to book all new and refresher training

• Identify and intervene with students missing from education

• Ensure the most up to date information is communicated to all staff

• Arrange prevent training

• Help support SENCO to deliver interventions to vulnerable students

• Co-ordinate provision of counselling services

• To work with school council reps to promote student voice.

General

• Assist with general clerical and typing duties as part of the core role at the request of senior staff

• Undertake any reasonable administration tasks as requested by the Head of School


Person Specification

EXPERIENCE

• Experience of working in a school environment would be advantageous

• Use of “SIMS” would be advantageous but full training will be provided

• Knowledge of safeguarding and the Keeping Children Safe in Education 


QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

• Previous attendance or safeguarding training or willingness to undertake new training

• Proficient use of Microsoft packages such as Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Understanding of relevant policies and procedures;

• Ability to undertake varied duties;

• Ability to work under the direction of different people and as part of a team;

• Good communication skills with people at all levels;

• Ability to gain the respect of students through a manner of confidence and authority;

• Ability to organise own workload in the context of varied tasks;

• Ability to work calmly under pressure;

• Ability to critically evaluate own performance and make any necessary changes to be more effective.


Hours ideally 8-4 each day but are negotiable to fit around school drop off/collection etc Term Time plus 1 week
