You will work with the wider team to ensure all efforts are made to remove barriers to attendance and encourage a positive and independent attitude to learning. The position involves working closely with families and students, home visits being the focus of the role. Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a school and knowledge of school systems, but training will be given if required.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has experience of school attendance procedures and external agencies
  • Passionately believes that all children can achieve, no matter what their starting point, background or needs
  • Is highly organised, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts effectively and professionally
  • Is aligned to our values and mission. If you are the type of person who fits with our culture, you will love working here
  • Is proactive and flexible to ensure the best outcome for students, parents, carers and the wider academy team
  • Will enjoy working outside an office environment
  • Has a confident and diplomatic approach and an awareness of the importance of confidentiality.

In return we offer:

  • Excellent CPD opportunities
  • A strong caring ethos and supportive team
  • The opportunity to make a real difference
  • Enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • The opportunity to work 39 weeks per year, 38 weeks of term time plus 5 INSET days
  • An induction and well-being package
  • Networking opportunities across the wider Astrea Academy Trust team.

We actively welcome visits and would be delighted to show you around our academy to appreciate fully our excellent learning environment.

For an informal conversation about the role and the journey we are on as a school, or to arrange a visit please contact Kathryn Haughian, Operations Manager - Kathryn.Haughian@astreawoodfields.org

If you are joining us from another school, academy or trust we recognise your continuous service date with confirmation from your current employer. This can positively impact a number of entitlements, including increased annual holiday payments which represent an increase in salary. This can be discussed in more detail at interview.

Application Closing Date: 20 February 2023

Join Astrea Academy Woodfields and join an incredible team who work hard constantly to make a difference on the life chances of the students that enter the gates, from the communities of Balby and Hexthorpe in Doncaster.

Astrea Academy Woodfields is an 11-18 Multi Academy Trust school situated in Balby, Doncaster, which has around 800 students. The academy is easily accessible via the A1(M).

Our vision for education is simple and one that allows teachers to teach. We believe in a curriculum that is knowledge-rich, ‘the best that is thought and said’, that is supported by a traditional approach to teaching, behaviour and culture. We are values-driven and our vision is to provide an inclusive, aspirational and academic education for all our students, so that all of them will learn, thrive and lead successful lives.

If you are interested in explicit instruction alongside the theories of Doug Lemov, Rosenshine and cognitive science, you will enjoy the warm/strict, disciplined/joyful culture at Woodfields, where there is impeccable behaviour, disruption free classrooms, teachers who can teach and students who can focus on learning.

We are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs. We are not going to reduce expectations because of a child’s background or home life, or because they are new to English or have a special education need. In fact, the opposite is true. It is our job to redouble our efforts to help children overcome these barriers so that they can flourish.

We value our staff highly and treat workload very seriously. Our systems are high leverage, ensuring you can really focus on your core purpose – teaching, in a sustainable way, unhindered by bureaucracy or poor behaviour.

We hope to hear from you soon.
