We are seeking to appoint an energetic and dynamic Attendance Officer to join our student welfare and guidance team. Our support staff team work extremely closely with the teaching staff to provide the very best educational experience that we can for the young people in our school. We expect the highest possible standards from all our staff and our support staff members take a full and active part in school life.
Maidenhill is located just 4 miles from the M5 motorway. We are committed to the safeguarding of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. We are a small school and pride ourselves in knowing our students really well. As a small school we work closely together and have individual student achievement at the heart of everything we do.
You will be responsible, under the direction of the Assistant Head Teacher and Student Welfare and Guidance team, for improving attendance and punctuality and reducing persistent absence. You will be a self-starter with proven organisational and time management skills. You will need to be an independent worker, capable of taking initiative, but will recognise that you work as part of a team. You will need to have a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude.
In addition to the administration associated with student absence and generating data and absence reports, you will be expected to communicate and meet with both students and parents/carers both in school and on home visits. Your aim will be to improve students’ attendance to a good standard and support students and families to achieve this. When other strategies have failed to bring about improvements, you will need to be prepared to work with the Educational Welfare Officer to pursue legal proceedings, working closely with the LA team to ensure cases are well documented and evidenced.
