The London Nautical School is an 11 to 18 Boys’ School situated in the centre of London on the Southbank close to world famous theatres and art galleries. The river is close to our hearts and offers us a link to the sea, which gives us our heritage. The London Nautical School is a dynamic and progressive school that has high aspirations for its staff and students. With our 600+ students we are a close-knit, warm environment seeking colleagues who value this and wish to contribute to the wider life of our school and community.
We are looking to appoint an able, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Autistic Spectrum Condition Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive, passionate and dedicated team of professionals. Our vision is based around ‘Achievement for All’; therefore we are looking for candidates who are committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment for all students with special educational needs. As an ASC LSA you will lead on the development of students’ literacy and communication skills and contribute to the supportive environment that we aim to provide in our Inclusive school.
The main responsibilities of an ASC LSA will be to support those students within the ASC resourced provision who have a Statement or EHCP where the main need is Autism. The role will include supporting students with Autistic Spectrum Condition in the mainstream classroom and on a 1:1 basis within our inclusion centre. Opportunities for professional development in teaching and leading on small group teaching is also available for an outstanding candidate.
In September 2015, The London Nautical School opened a specialist resource base for students with Autism, who are supported in the classroom and in small groups to develop their independent learning, social and emotional regulation skills. With the opening of this specialist resource base, came the opening of our state of the art inclusion centre in September 2016.
Applications are invited from those with good interpersonal skills and experience in supporting young people with Autism.
