AV and Events Technician

35 hours per week all year round

We are looking to appoint an AV and Events Technician to provide operational and technical support to performances and school events. Responsibilities include advising performance organisers, setting up and operating AV equipment for performances and other Drama and Music events and workshops, and supporting the Head of Technical Services in relation to assemblies and supervision of the student technical crews. The salary may be negotiable for a suitably qualified applicant. 

You will be part of the Technical Services Team, led by the AV and Events Technician Manager, which delivers an IT and AV service to the four schools of the Twyford Church of England Trust - Twyford CE High School (Acton), William Perkin CE High School (Greenford), Ada Lovelace CE High School (Ealing) and Ealing Fields High School (Ealing).  The new post-holder will also oversee the provision and maintenance of classroom AV equipment, and other media services activities.  

The role is primarily based at Ada Lovelace CE High School in Ealing but will involve providing practical support for events at other schools as required.  

The working week is 35 hours. Core hours of work are 7:30am – 3:30pm with a one-hour break, plus paid overtime for evening events, lettings and weekend working as required.  Hours of work as arranged with the AV and Events Manager.

The successful candidates will be: 

Proactive, approachable, calm and professional. S/he will ideally have specialist AV training or qualification, and will be able to demonstrate knowledge of AV and lighting systems, and experience of working in a customer services environment. Previous experience of work in a school is desirable but not essential.

Ada Lovelace CE High School

Ada Lovelace Church of England High School opened in September 2018 and has had a smaller intake (125 students per year) for two years while co-located at William Perkin Church of England High School - an Ofsted Outstanding school - in Greenford. The school moved to its brand new permanent site in north Ealing in September 2020. It now has four Year Groups with a total of 650 students. The school will have 1,330 students when full.  Ada Lovelace is named after the Victorian pioneer of computing – it has a specialism in digital technologies and will provide different routes from Year 7 in ICT and Computer Science as well as applications of Creative Media. Ada Lovelace also benefits from specialist provision and support from within the family of Trust schools. 

The Twyford Trust

The Twyford Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well.
