If you really want to make your mark in a rapidly growing business that is committed to improving the lives of children and young people, we have the role for you!

We are looking for Bank Teaching Assistants who have a background in working with children and young people who present with challenging behaviours due to their additional needs. Experience in supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties would be ideal for the role and individuals with this experience would be suited to join our team at Maple Grove School in Chester.

About the School

Maple Grove is a newly opened school providing a specialist setting for learners with autism. We are situated in Hoole, Chester, with the school set within a beautiful, historic building that has been completely refurbished and redesigned to the highest standard.

At Maple Grove, everything we do revolves around the individual needs of each child attending our school, with the aim that every learner is able to fulfil their potential.

Along with our rich and varied curriculum, we focus on developing core life skills such as communication and social ability, sensory processing and emotional regulation; every pupil develops the essential capabilities they need to be as independent as possible when they leave school.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to children, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

About the Role

Joining our dedicated team, you will support our teachers to provide high quality teaching of a range of subjects, and help ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Colleagues at Maple Grove are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate pupils through lessons that promote learning and raise levels of attainment.

The ideal candidate will successfully support pupils to develop key academic and personal skills, through the development of positive working relationships with pupils, and ongoing, effective communication with colleagues. Working under the direction of class and subject teachers, teaching assistants at Maple Grove give regular feedback and encourage our young people to develop the key self-regulation skills and social understanding they need in order to become as independent as possible. Our specialist curriculum and personalised learning objectives are key to the success of our pupils and as a Bank Teaching Assistant you will be a key part of the learning process.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who is energetic, resourceful and patient, and who wants to motivate and inspire pupils with autism and a range of other complex needs to reach their full potential.

No two days are the same at Maple Grove so we want colleagues who are solution focused, can work at pace, and are motivated by working with children with complex needs. You must be committed to the idea that every child can achieve and reach their potential. The ideal candidate will be resilient, have a calm and engaging demeanour and be passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to their learning.

Whilst previous experience of working in within a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent interpersonal skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

Options Autism is part of Outcomes First Group. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to fully Enhanced DBS.
