This exciting programme aims to combat the root causes of poverty, promote social inclusion, challenge long-term unemployment and empower socially excluded people. This project is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.

BUILDING BETTER OPPORTUNITIES WORK COACHES 2 x Full time posts - GBP 22,274 per annum.
One will be based in Derby City and one will be focussing on South Derbyshire including Swadlincote. This post could be based in South Derbyshire, preferably Swadlincote but with the abiity to travel regularly to Derby City, averaging 2 days per week.
You will contribute to the overall success of the BBO Towards Work Programme within Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire. You will work directly with unemployed and economically inactive participants by effectively delivering a holistic, personalised support service, which empowers participants with the self-belief, skills, motivation and confidence to enable them to progress into employment, self-employment or further training/education. The successful candidate will facilitate a range of Employability and Personal Development Interventions, via 1:1 and group based learning and development sessions. You will provide participants with comprehensive Initial Diagnostic Assessments, plan and deliver their learning & development, evaluate and measure their progress and impart guidance, knowledge and mentoring. You will play a pivotal role in helping individuals to overcome their fears and barriers and to develop their employability skills.
The successful person will have:
* Hold (or be working towards) a recognised Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) qualification (minimum of Level 3 or above)
* Hold (or be working towards) a recognised Adult Teaching/Training qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education & Training or above)
* Previous experience of coaching, supporting and placing unemployed/ economically inactive people with multiple & complex needs into employment, self-employment or FE/Training
* Previous experience of effective case management of disadvantaged participants, including the delivery of 1:1's, IAG, diagnostics, action planning, reviewing progress and implementing appropriate Employability & Jobsearch techniques
* Ability to negotiate and agree 'SMART' objectives with participants, experienced in giving constructive feedback and able to positively transform negative behaviours
* Knowledge and understanding of the Local Labour Market, Sector Skills Gaps, local Employment & Skills provision, Specialist Support Networks, and Education & Training providers

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
