We are seeking Behaviour/Learning Support/SEN Mentors to work at our secondary alternative provision in Slough. Haybrook College educates young people aged 11 to 19 who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) or medical needs. We have multiple provisions offering a range of high quality and personalised educational programmes. These help to make positive changes in the lives of our young people and ensure the best possible educational outcomes.

As a Behaviour/Learning Support/SEN Mentor, you will support the learning, achievement and development of pupils to ensure they leave school with the best possible outcomes. You will play a key role in supporting teachers by mentoring young people with SEMH who may also have significant gaps in their schooling or be disaffected with education. The pupils have varying learning needs and may have challenging behaviour and you will support them to make positive choices about their future. Additionally, you will provide support for offsite activities, personal development and sports programmes.

Experience of working with young people who have SEND, complex social and emotional difficulties, specific learning needs or who may find a mainstream school environment challenging would be advantageous. This may be as a mentor, teaching assistant, youth worker or other support role.

You need to be confident and engaging with excellent interpersonal skills so you can motivate pupils and colleagues. You should have good numeracy and communication skills (both written and verbal) and are able to remain calm in difficult and challenging circumstances.

Interested candidates are encouraged to look at our website www.haybrookcollege.co.uk to see the different programmes on offer.
