If you really want to help vulnerable children reach their full potential in a supportive and caring team then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join our growing Pastoral team.

About the School:

The Grange Therapeutic School is an independent special school for young people aged 8 -18 years with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Our school is based in a Victorian country house near Oakham with stunning views and fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils. With access to woods and lakes on site, the school has an ethos about delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to, and driven by, the individuals.

Behaviour is currently rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted.

We need hardworking, child centred staff who are resilient and willing to go the extra mile. In return we offer significant investment in your professional development, a supportive staff group and opportunities for progression.

 About the Role:

The post holder will work closely with challenging pupils, guiding and managing their behaviour both on and offsite. The role requires responding to challenging behaviour and providing support in school dealing with incidents but also mentoring pupils and coaching them to prevent future incidents.

The post holder will be expected to look beyond the surface behaviour to look for solution – not just asking “what is happening?” but also “why?”

In its stunning country setting The Grange day and 38 week residential school offers a holistic therapeutic approach in its teaching and environment.

Small class sizes and an onsite therapy team help pupils re-engage in education through traditional learning opportunities alongside numerous off site vocational options and accredited activities which develop the boys’ confidence & social skills, improving their potential to move on to a meaningful adult life.

The individual curriculum is extended to well resourced primary classes where pupils are also encouraged through a nurturing approach in lessons and during play activities.

Primary and secondary schools are just a short walk from each other and set close to the two small and homely boarding houses which offer outstanding wraparound care for the school’s weekly boarders.
