An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work as a Behaviour Support Worker at The Bishop of Winchester Academy. 

A behaviour support worker is required with immediate effect to join our dedicated and caring behaviour and pastoral Team. The role is varied and will include working in behaviour management areas and classrooms with pupils. Supporting colleagues in addressing the needs of those pupils who need particular help with behaviour management to overcome barriers to learning.

It will also involve working with individual pupils and groups, to raise awareness of appropriate behaviours and responses; implementing one to one intervention arrangements with pupils; providing support for distressed and/or challenging pupils and working on intervention programmes with individual pupils or groups.

The candidate needs to be flexible, motivated and use own initiative. The person for this job must want to “make a difference” and have high expectations, no excuses attitude.

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
