Job overview

The role

The Royal School delivers a holistic education – first class academic teaching, outstanding pastoral care and a wide range of co-curricular activities. As part of the United Learning Group of schools which encourages ‘the best in everyone’ we incorporate best practice from independent schools and academies right across the group, whilst retaining our unique, friendly ethos.

It is an exciting time to be joining the school under a new Head who will be leading the school into its next period of growth and success. With an ambitious building project planned with the first fully refurbished laboratory completed by September 2021.

The school prides itself on excellent academic results and exceptional pastoral care.  The Biology teacher will be joining a team with an excellent value added and recent students have gone on to study Veterinary Science and Medicine at Russell Group universities.

The science department is a small and friendly team, plus excellent CPD opportunities through the United Learning network.

We would warmly welcome applications from NQTs and experienced teachers.  If you are interested in boarding duties accommodation may be provided.

For any part time applications this will be 0.8FTE over 5 days.

The Royal School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the school to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

  • High expectation of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour.
  • Willingness or experience to engage in teaching using technology.

  • Sound subject knowledge which they can utilise to challenge all pupils.

United Learning

The Royal School is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
