Job overview

BOARDING GIRLS’ HOUSEMISTRESS AND DANCE TEACHER
North London Collegiate School, Jeju
REQUIRED FOR JANUARY 2017 - TWO TERM MATERNITY COVER POST

North London Collegiate School Jeju is seeking to appoint a Girls’ Boarding Housemistress who is also able to teach Dance to GCSE, from January
2017, as a two term maternity cover role.

NLCS is situated on the UNESCO World Heritage island of Jeju, South Korea, and enjoys a strong relationship with NLCS UK.

Boarding is at the heart of NLCS Jeju and the school has six Houses catering for students from Year 7 to Year 13. This two term maternity cover post is for a Housemistress in a Girls’ House for Years 7 to 11, and is classed as a senior pastoral leadership role. This person would ideally also need to teach Dance, taking a group of Year 11 students through their GCSE examinations.

This is a unique opportunity for a person with boarding experience to sample life working at a successful international school. There is a possibility of this job leading to a full time Dance Teacher post in August.

Excellent accommodation is provided within the Boarding House, where a team of other resident staff also live.

The School is now looking to appoint a person who will:

  • Have successful experience in Boarding
  • Ideally have experience of teaching Dance
  • Be a collegiate and collaborative team-player
  • Be a person of kindness and absolute integrity who will always put the needs of the pupils first

Closing date: Thursday 27th October 2016

North London Collegiate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers
to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

NLCS Jeju was the first NLCS International School to open its doors in 2011. It is located on the island of Jeju, in South Korea, but its proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, where in 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School.

In just a few years NLCS Jeju has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious and successful schools in East Asia. IB Diploma results are outstanding and the school’s graduates are attending some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges.

In keeping with the NLCS philosophy, the curriculum is aspirational and provides significant academic challenge for students. Students sit iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11 and follow the IB Diploma Programme through Years 12 and 13.

NLCS Jeju offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including accommodation, flights, health insurance and free places at the school for teachers’ children.

Location

The school is located on the picturesque island of Jeju, in South Korea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the centre of English education in Korea and the pre-eminent educational hub of Asia.

Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.
