The Headmaster and Governors invite applications for the post of Bursar and Clerk to the Governors.

The post becomes vacant in January 2017, although a delayed start could be offered to the successful applicant if a longer notice period is required.

The Bursar is a key member of the School’s Senior Management Team and works closely with the Headmaster in ensuring effective management of finance administration and all support services. The Bursar, with the support of an Assistant Bursar, secretary and admin team, is responsible for control and management of finances and produces the statutory accounts. The Bursar also takes the lead on health and safety matters and human resources.

The Bursar with the support of an Estates Manager has overall responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all school buildings and extensive grounds together with the capital works programme.

As Clerk to the Governors, the Bursar arranges all Governors’ meetings and prepare papers for those meetings.  The Bursar liaises closely with the Governors on all decision-making at Trustee level.

The post holder will have a professional management or accountancy qualification and will demonstrate strong experience gained in financial management and staff management.

Closing Date: Noon on Thursday 15th December.  Interviews to be held on Thursday 22nd December.

As the interviews will take place during the school Christmas break, we will hold an Open Day on Wednesday 14th December for any applicants who wish to visit the school on a normal working day within term time.

Please contact the Headmaster at the email address below to arrange this.

St David’s College is a 9-19 co-educational day and boarding school situated in North Wales which caters very well for pupils whom have struggled to learn elsewhere.

We have a huge Outdoor Education department that organises over 20 off-site trips per week (including caving, sailing, mountaineering, kayaking, etc) in addition to around a dozen major expeditions per year such as husky sledging in Sweden, diving in Egypt, sea kayaking in Greenland and Alaska, etc.  These all serve to build confidence, self esteem and leadership skills in our pupils which leads to an increased enthusiasm for school life and improved motivation and cooperation in the classroom.

Our SEN department is currently staffed by 18 specialist 1:1 teachers and we also offer Occupational Therapy and have Speech and Language specialists on site.  Academic lessons are broken down into bite size chunks, are extremely interactive and have high multi-media content.  Class sizes usually average between 5 and 10 pupils with a maximum of around 14 pupils.  In addition, all SEN pupils are offered at least 2 individual support lessons each week.   Whilst these methods clearly enhance the learning experience of the types of pupils previously described, they also attract a significant number of pupils with no challenging educational needs at all.

We deliver a standard curriculum of GCSEs and A Levels alongside a number of vocational courses.  Most of our students gain successful GCSE results and stay for the 6th Form, and the majority of our U6 leavers go on to university to study a wide range of topics including prestigious courses such as architecture, law and medicine, at equally prestigious institutions.

St David’s College was founded on Christian principles and continues to promote them today. Many teachers live on site and the supportive residential community makes St David’s College a very special place to live, learn and work.  I hope this gives you a brief overview of the school, but you can find more information in the enclosed literature and on the school website.
