As part of our strategy to continue to grow and provide our services internationally, an opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious Business and Economics Teacher to join our school, with the ability to teach A-level (KS5) in both subjects. This role is completely remote where you will be working from home on a part-time, permanent basis.

About the role

Job Title – Business and Economics Leader of Learning (Teacher)

Location – Based in the UK - working remotely from home

Start Date – Thursday 25th August 2022 in readiness for the new academic year 

Salary Range -£12,397.20 - £14,840 per annum (£30,993 - £37,100 FTE) depending on experience, in addition to a 10% enhancement in pay for working anti-social hours

Position and Working Hours:

Position: Part-Time, Permanent Contract.

You will be contracted to work 35 weeks term time and a further 4 weeks which will be directed time during half-terms for you to complete other activities such as course writing, marking, revision sessions etc. The timing of directed weeks/hours will be confirmed and staff will be off for the remainder of the half-terms. It is expected that staff will work the necessary hours to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.

• 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE) spread over a number of days (TBC during interview stage)

• Live Teaching time on the Middle East is from Monday to Friday

• The working day for our Leaders of Learning’s on the Middle East timetable is to start at 5.30am and finish at 1.30pm (GMT time)

Our successful candidates will join a talented team providing excellent online educational experiences for our students whose ages range between 8 and 18. The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at Interhigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

The school day can run from 8:30am - 5:15pm, Monday to Friday however our Leaders of Learning will not be expected to teach back to back during these times. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time. Therefore the remaining time up to your contacted 37.5 hours can be utilised for PPA, meetings and any other activities during the week.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
