Pine Green Academy is a special day school for 126 children aged 7-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH), and shares a site with Evergreen Academy, a special short-term Pupil Referral Unit provision for 32 children aged 4 – 11 with SEMH.

Both schools are at an exciting phase in their development. We are in the fourth year, following academy conversion, now being sponsored by The Shaw Education Trust.  We are a small school and PRU where all pupils are well known and understood by our experienced staff and we are proud of our pastoral care, which ensures our pupils are well supported.

We are seeking to appoint a Business & Facilities Manager to work as a specialist under the direction of the Executive Headteacher to contribute to the strategic planning, development and monitoring of support services within the school.  Working collaboratively with the EHT and the Trust operational teams, taking responsibility for finance, Health & Safety, facilities management and human resources.

If you would want to support our Executive Headteacher and staff in delivering quality education to our fantastic children by undertaking this role then we want to hear from you.     Applicants will typically have 3-5 years working within in a business and finance environment at management level and will have significant experience in financial management.

Applicants must have:

  • Degree in Business & Finance /Business Management, Diploma ( Level 5) in School Business Management, or equivalent qualification, or several (typically 3 – 5 years) experience in a relevant discipline
  • 3-5 years working in a business and finance environment at a management level
  • 3-5 years’ experience of financial management systems ( typically schools finance is preferential but not essential)
  • Management experience of leading, developing, advising and coaching staff.

You will be responsible for:

  • Advising the Headteacher and Academy Council on financial policy and business plans.
  • Preparing and presenting reports to the Executive Headteacher and Academy Council in relation to budgets, spending and issues relating to both schools.
  • Required to prepare annual estimates and regular reports on income and expenditure, monitoring accounts against budgets and report on the financial state of the school to the Academy Council and Trust.
  • Oversee the school premises, including all school housekeeping, repairs and maintenance, development of buildings and the provision of furnishing.
  • Make recommendations to the Headteacher and Academy Council on the spending of repairs and capital budgets, according to an agreed development plan wherever possible and once authorised, oversee the spending of these funds, consulting heads of department to ensure that both repairs and improvements are fit for educational purpose.

This particularly rewarding role will contribute enormously to the children in our school offering them the life chances that they deserve.  The Shaw Education Trust are a growing multi academy trust, which places high achievement at the heart of all we do.   We are determined that no child attending a Shaw Education Trust Academy should have their opportunities limited by their background or by their ability.

The successful candidate will work across Pine Green and Evergreen Academy working closely with the senior management team on all issues relating to business, finance, facilities and HR.

If you would like to discuss the role and joining our Academies, then please make contact through the recruitment@shaw-education.org.uk and we will arrange for a member  of the team to call you.

Our collaborative approach

Shaw Education Trust is a growing multi academy trust sponsored by Shaw Trust. We lead and manage academies in all phases, all sectors and in all communities.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to be successful whatever their starting point. We pledge an unswerving commitment to improve, accelerate and enable ambitious life goals amongst all young people in our academies.

We don't believe in prescribing a curriculum; instead we support our academies to offer a curriculum that deepens knowledge, develops skills and fires the curiosity of students. We also expect each Academy to offer a range of support that addresses life after school, develops students' independence and helps them to prepare for university and the world of work.

Senior leaders at each Academy have the support of a core team and commissioned experts to provide high quality teacher training and development to staff to ensure they are continually developing their good practice.

We also encourage collaboration within and between our academies to create a community of professionals with a wide range of valuable experience and specialist knowledge to share.

Integrity and transparency underpin our accountability approach. We believe in earned autonomy for our academies, with the Trust Board providing the appropriate level of challenge and support - as well as oversight - to each. Local accountability is supported through a system of Academy Councils, with representatives of the whole school community in membership.
