What we are looking for:

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, highly motivated and enthusiastic Business & IT Teacher to join our EBacc team. This post will be suited to both experienced teachers and NQT’s as we can provide you with support, development and fantastic career prospects. 

The successful applicant will: 

  • Have a passion for teaching Business & IT 
  • Share our vision for fostering a love of lifelong learning, both for students and teachers 
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents 
  • Be able to monitor and effectively track pupil progress and put in place appropriate intervention

Sir John Hunt is a non-denominational, co-educational secondary with sixth form in Plymouth, Devon. As of the most recent inspection there were 728 students on the school roll, of which 168 were in sixth form. The school is located next to Whitleigh Community Primary School. The school is named for British Army officer who is best known as the leader of the successful 1953 British Expedition to Mount Everest, in which Edmund Hillary became the first man to reach the summit. The school motto is ‘to greater heights’.

As a Specialist Sports College, Sir John Hunt ensures an offer of a broad and balanced curriculum. The school finds it important to take into account the opinions and engagement of all students when designing their personalised pathways. This has resulted in not only teaching the traditional competitive sports to a high level but also a range of fitness based alternative activities. At Sir John Hunt students are actively encouraged to attend lunchtime and after school sports clubs. Examples of the wide range of activities that students can take part in include trampolining, golf, and skiing.

Ofsted

Our most recent Ofsted inspection was a great success and recognised the commitment of our staff to improving the College and securing the very best outcomes for our students. The College was judged to be ‘Good’ across all areas inspected.
