St George's School, Edinburgh is seeking a Business Director to provide strategic leadership on all commercial and financial aspects of the school, as well as having overall responsibility for the management of the support functions of the School.

The Business Director is responsible and accountable to the school's Governing Council and any of its constituent Committees. On a day to day basis the Business Director will report to the Head and will have responsibility for the management and strategic leadership of the School's Finance, Facilities and Health and Safety functions. Direct reports to the Business Director will be the Facilities Department managers, the IT infrastructure manager and the finance team.

The Business Director will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, will Chair the Facilities Management Team and will play a key role in the IT Management Group. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Business Director will be expected to represent the School at external events, to be an ambassador for the School, and to promote the ethos of St George's at all times.

Person Specification

Applicants should have considerable managerial and financial experience, with a hands-on approach. Ideally, they should have a university degree and a relevant qualification in accounting or finance.

They should be computer literate, have excellent communication skills at all levels, and be keen to take a full part in all activities of the School's communities.

Knowledge of the Charity sector would be advantageous but is not a requirement.

St George’s School for Girls is an independent, all-through school in Edinburgh. It caters for approximately 800 girls aged between two and eighteen.

Founded in 1888 by pioneers of women’s education, St George’s is the largest all-girls school in Scotland and the only all-through girls’ school in Edinburgh. The school was named the top Scottish Independent School for Advanced Higher results by the Best-Schools website in 2014 and 2013.
