Delivering a range of A-Level and vocational (BTEC) Business Studies courses, the ideal candidate will be a dynamic practitioner who promotes and upholds the same high expectations as the College and its’ students. With a focus on sharing good practice, they will be committed to their own continuous professional development, and will engage enthusiastically with our quality processes to ensure that our students receive an Outstanding experience.

The successful candidate will be interested in contributing to wider business provision, such as a cross college enterprise project. In addition to this, experience of delivering the level 4 HNC business qualification, Access to business, and / or A Level Economics would also be desirable but not essential.

Key duties include:

  • Teaching on a range of programmes in Business delivering effective learning for students (810 hours)
  • Plan and prepare high quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and share resources for the course/subject.
  • Deliver enrichment and enhancement activities.
  • Complete required assessment duties in relation to student assignments.
  • Value and support students to achieve their full potential.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, if required.
  • Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant subject area
  • A teaching qualification (or be prepared to complete one within the first 3 years of appointment)
  • Successful teaching experience in A Level and/or BTEC Business
  • Successful teaching experience in HNC/Access/A Level Economics (desirable)
  • Experience of acting as a personal tutor (desirable)

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
