This is a superb opportunity for an enthusiastic, talented Business Studies and Economics teacher to join our wonderful school to enrich the learning experience of our students. We are an oversubscribed and highly successful school within a welcoming school community.


We are seeking a qualified Teacher of Business Studies and Economics to start in April 2022.  The post is for part time 0.8fte but we could offer 1.0fte if the successful applicant had other subjects to offer that the curriculum requires. The position will provide good opportunities for professional development for a suitably aspirational teacher, whether qualified or newly qualified to teach up to GCSE and A Level.  


The Business and Economics Department is a small yet very successful department. You will work alongside the Subject Leader in the teaching of Business Studies and Economics. We offer AQA GCSE Business 9-1, OCR A-Level Business and AQA A-Level Economics. We use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies in our practice from Literacy and Careers advice to Dragon’s Den style presentations. We are oversubscribed at KS4 and both Business and Economics are popular at KS5. A large number of our sixth form students choose to pursue both subjects at degree level.

St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. As a Catholic Comprehensive school of all abilities within a selective area, the School is known for its high standards of academic, vocational, sporting and pastoral achievements. The School has a Sports Hall and Designated 6th Form Centre, specialist Science labs [the School has a Science specialism], Technology workshops, Muga sports facility.

CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.

OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
