Job overview

We are seeking a Cafe Assistant to work closely with the Cafe Manager, ensuring the effective and efficient running of the St Thomas More College Cafe.

Duties include:
• Serving food and making coffee, tea & other beverages,
• Cleaning of service & storage area,
• Ensuring a high level of food hygiene is always practised,
• Applying a high standard of safety with all appliances,
• Assisting with ordering.

The successful application will have a minimum of 1-year Barista experience, excellent communication & team work skills, and enjoy working in a busy environment. A cover letter addressing the criteria outlined above should be included with the application.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.


Estimated Start Date:
  Commencing June 2020

Position Tenure:   Casual

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   N/A

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   15-20 hours per week, every week day.

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   Services Staff Level 2 Step 2 - $26.03 per hour

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
