Job overview

Cambridge Maths School (CMS) is a new specialist sixth form being developed in partnership with the University of Cambridge, opening in September 2023 with a focus on pioneering learning and increasing diversity in the field of mathematical sciences. The school will provide a diverse range of young people with access to a unique educational experience, located in bespoke facilities on Mill Road in Cambridge. The school will offer A levels in mathematics, further mathematics, biology, chemistry, computer science and physics.

The school is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational teacher of chemistry to work in a unique and talented department to realise the vision and ambitions for the school. The post may be either part-time or full-time, candidates are asked to state their preference in the application form.

The school will deliver a highly specialised A-Level STEM-based curriculum to enthusiastic students from the eastern region. CMS works to attract high achieving students from groups who do not normally progress to the most competitive university STEM courses. Mathematics lies at the core of everything that takes place at Cambridge Maths School; it is the passion that unites teachers and students alike, and it represents a way of thinking and creating that empowers and enriches all the different aspects of the school curriculum.

Should the successful candidate be interested and appropriately qualified, there may be opportunities to teach physics, biology, computer science and maths at the school also.
