Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special needs and disabilities. We are currently looking for a Support Worker to join Aurora Orchard Manor.

Orchard Manor provides education, care and therapeutic support for young adults aged 18-30 years with severe and profound communication difficulties associated with conditions like cerebral palsy, autism, brain injury and degenerative disorders. They may have complex health and sensory needs and associated difficulties that require specialist support to enable them to access a bespoke curriculum.  It is one of the few schools in the country that offers this level of highly specialist support.  

The care home shares the site with the children’s home and school Meldreth Manor. It is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound redevelopment that will provide contemporary living and learning environments for young people with complex needs. The investment in both the infrastructure and our people will transform Meldreth and Orchard Manor into one of the leading education and care services in the UK.

The care team follow a waking day programme, adopting, practising and adapting strategies that young people are working on in the on-site Skills Centre.  Orchard Manor is part of a positive, vibrant and collaborative community where every young person is given the care, support and levels of challenge needed to develop not just their academic abilities, but also their self-confidence, life skills and independence. The wider team employed in the skills centre includes; Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and skills tutors.

The Role:

The purpose of this job is to support the Service Manager to effectively manage and coordinate all aspects of a high quality personalised service to disabled young people, adults and their families.

You will be working as part of the management team to manage and develop the service offered to individuals in accordance with their preferences and needs.

You will manage and encourage team members to maximise their potential through continuous learning whilst challenging and dealing with under performance.

You will recruit, manage and develop staff within Aurora’s HR and operational policies and procedures

You will have an oversight of young people’s health needs, appointments and actions
