Blossom House is an Ofsted-rated “Outstanding” specialist school for children aged 3 – 19 years of age with speech, language and communication difficulties. The School is seeking to appoint a Careers Lead to implement a Careers programme that follows best practice and prepares young people for the choices and transitions in education, training and employment.

The role:

Proactive, reliable and friendly you will be able to ignite career aspirations in young people.  You will be responsible for the school’s careers programme, arranging and implementing careers support for our students in Years 9 to 11.

You will be someone who can liaise with external partners, such as employers, learning providers and career guidance services, as well as ensure that the various elements of the school’s careers provision are coordinated and managed through a stable and embedded programme.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Understanding of running a careers programme in schools.

• Experience of working in a careers programme in school / education setting, whether as a Leader, Advisor or other relevant activity.

• Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance or equivalent or working towards.

• Experience of planning and delivering a curriculum.

• Experience of organising work experience placements.

• Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills.

• The ability to build good working relationships with internal staff and external contacts such as work placement providers and parents/carers.

• Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum. 

• The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.

The role is a Permanent, Part-Time 

3 days, 08:30 – 17:00, 9 weeks holiday per annum plus bank holidays

Salary: Pro-rata full time equivalent £28,000 to £30,900
