Job overview

The Governors at Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a caretaker to join the site team.  The Academy is a split-site with two buildings half a mile apart and a Studio school in the grounds.  To allow for flexibility, you will be expected to work across all sites.  The job is varied in nature and requires a range of skills.  Flexibility, initiative, the willingness to learn, to work as part of a team and be involved in the life of the Academy are some qualities you will find useful in this post.  A sense of humour and the ability to get on with a wide variety of people is essential.  Boredom is not an option and your day will vary according to which shift you are on and the demands of the school calendar.  This is a post which requires energy and commitment.

This is a full time, all year round role.

Term-time hours are worked in rotational shifts with the other caretakers:

Shift 1 - 06:30 - 14:00

Shift 2 - 09:00 - 16:30

Shift 3 - 11:30 - 19:00 (also includes evening events, for which a later start will be arranged)

School holiday hours: 08:00 - 16:30

Total weekly hours : 37 (30 min earlier finish on Friday for all shifts)

We are also open to receiving applications from anyone interested in a Caretaker apprenticeship.

Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All staff appointments are subject to satisfactory references and enhanced checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).

Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and the elimination of discrimination; all applicants should note that they will be considered on the basis of suitability regardless of disability, gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation and marital status or any other discrimination which is unfair or unreasonable.

In line with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust does not request attendance or medical information on candidates for posts prior to appointment.  We will, however, seek a post-appointment reference for successful candidates, which will include questions relating to attendance records.  Appointments will be made subject to this reference and the Trust may, in some circumstances, withdraw the offer of appointment on the basis of information received, again having full regard to the requirements of the Equality Act.

About Knutsford Multi Academy Trust

Knutsford Academy provides secondary education to over 1200 students aged from 11 to 18 in the historic town of Knutsford, less than 20 miles from the centre of Manchester and minutes from the M6 motorway. Students arrive in Year 7 from the local primary schools in Knutsford and we also attract a number of students from the south Manchester and Northwich areas. The school formed in 1953 as Knutsford High School and still operates from the original site in the centre of the town, it transferred to Academy status in 2012.

The school has a thriving Sixth Form and over the last four years has  achieved a 100% pass rate at A Level which has seen a large number of students progressing to Russell Group universities. At GCSE, in the summer of 2018 80% all grades were at 4 or above and 25% of all grades at 7 or above with an overall improving progress 8 score.

Our focus is driven by our three core values:

Academic Excellence - We provide a supportive and challenging environment to ensure our students achieve academic excellence at Knutsford Academy.

Strong Community - We draw on the strength of our community within Knutsford Academy and work with our local community around Knutsford.

World Class Opportunities - We aim to prepare our students for life beyond school by providing world class opportunities.

The Academy Team

The Academy is led by Executive Principal Mike Cladingbowl, a former National Director for Ofsted, who oversees the strategy and running of the school. There are currently over 60 teachers at the school and a support team who all work collectively to deliver the very best for our students.

Professional Development

The Academy provides a range of training programmes through our own teacher training school, including a PGCE run in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, together with a personal development programme for those looking to progress to the next step, offering the NPQML and NPQSL, run in partnership with the Star Institute.
