Job overview

About the role:  The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy is one of the most successful UTC's in the UK; we have state of the art facilities within our modern site and we've recently expanded our student numbers to incorporate Key Stage 3 year groups which has been an incredibly exciting time for the local community that the school serves.  We know that the Caretaker role is pivotal to the smooth day-to-day running of the school and our successful candidate will take care of the academy premises in a range of ways including general maintenance duties (minor repair and refurbishment works), porterage, security, health and safety, etc.

We will operate on a weekly rota to ensure the academy needs are catered for; the working hours are 6.30am - 3.00pm (Week 1) and 11.30am - 8.00pm (Week 2), Monday to Friday.  This is a permanent contract over the full 52 weeks of the year, i.e our school remains open during when the students and staff are on school breaks and we carry out a variety of projects during the school holidays.  We offer 25 days holiday per annum (plus bank holidays) which increases based on length of service.  Our appointed candidate will join us as close to 3rd September 2018 as possible.

We offer fantastic CPD opportunities as an academy and as a wider multi-academy trust so can provide full support if there are any areas that you may need to be upskilled or trained.

At The Leigh UTC, we create opportunities for meaningful collaboration for staff, we provide a respectful working environment and we encourage innovation from every member of our team. Our Principal, Governors, teaching and support staff believe wholeheartedly in creating opportunities for lifelong success for our young people and believe that exam success is just one aspect in achieving this. We deliver amazing experiences for students whilst not compromising on outcomes. Our teamwork allows us to be greater than the sum of our parts - join us to achieve more than you thought possible.

Curriculum is king and we do things a little differently to other schools or colleges because we believe the most effective way to educate our students is to make our learning more hands-on. With the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme (MYP) at KS3, GCSEs at KS4, and A-levels, T-levels and the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP) at KS5, our ambitious curriculum offer caters for choice, leading the vast majority of students into STEM-related careers or courses.
