The School: 

Ashfield School is renowned for high standards of teaching, behaviour and academic achievement. One of the largest schools in England (2700 on role), staff work together each day to support, inspire and challenge students to give of their best in our safe, happy and ambitious working environment. 

Our recent Ofsted report, published in November 2021, confirms the incredibly positive culture across the school. Student behaviour is excellent, staff well-being surveys evidence that morale is very high with teachers treated as respected professionals. 

Ashfield School is a great place to work and as part of the DFE school re-building project will move into brand new buildings over the next few years. We are located close to the A38 and M1 and there is a large free staff car park. Facilities across the large school site are excellent with numerous social and work spaces, staff specific catering and sporting facilities all available.

The role: 

Ashfield School are looking to appoint a full time Caretaker to join their team of Site staff in providing caretaking, security, maintenance, setting up events and supporting with minor repair works to the whole site.

The team work on a rota with the early shift being 6am – 2pm, the middle shift being 7am – 3pm and the late shift being Midday till 8pm. The late shift is worked once in five weeks. 

Suring school holidays and exam periods only the early and late shift are worked. 

The person: 

The successful candidate will ideally have a trade or practical building maintenance skills with experience of working in premises with Health & Safety knowledge. The person should be able to work independently and be self-motivated but also able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills and have a commitment to high standards.

Ashfield School is the largest single site 11-18 secondary school in the country (NOR 2,700). Our extensive and inclusive seven-year curriculum is housed in state of the art facilities including a separate, purpose built Post 16 Centre, a tiered theatre, a swimming pool, drama and dance studios, catering kitchen, construction centre, hair and beauty studios and a 400 metre fully equipped athletics track.

Ashfield School has earned a succession of very strong ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding features’ Ofsted judgements and we continue to go from strength the strength in terms of our reputation and student numbers.
