We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. The right candidate will be able to inspire and motivate students and staff through the delivery of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programme.

This is a mid-level leadership position with approximate 50% time allocation for the CAS role. The balance of time will be filled with teaching and associated duties etc. (the subject to be taught will depend on your qualifications).

 

Required

  • An excellent team player within the Core IBDP and Service teams and across the school, willing to work collaboratively and support the ongoing development of the CAS programme across the whole school.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: being visible and approachable to both staff and students in the upper school.
  • Experience of supporting students with service learning, either inside or outside of the classroom.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to teaching and wider professional practice.
  • Flexibility and the desire to be a part of a dynamic school community.  Appreciation for the value of the IB Learner Profile and the school’s Community Profile with a proactive approach towards developing them.
  • Experience of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
  • Familiarity with the CAS requirements and experience of supporting students with CAS.
  • Commitment towards extra and co-curricular activities and a holistic approach to education.
  • Organizational, versatility and multi-tasking skills which will enable you to deal with large numbers of projects, partners and students.
  • A Bachelor or Master's degree, plus relevant teaching qualification (your degree and teaching qualification should clearly indicate the subject that you are applying to teach in)
  • Hold a fully qualified teacher status in the country the qualification is obtained (eg. UK: you have been awarded QTS and have successfully completed the statutory induction period)
  • EU citizen or have a valid permit to work in The Netherlands.

 

Preferred

  • Confident with the use of new technologies and understanding of how to use technology as part of the learning process.
  • Dutch language skills: not essential but a willingness to learn or speak Dutch will support the development of local partnerships.
  • Experience of project based learning.
  • An understanding or experience of TOK and the Extended Essay
  • Experience of strategic leadership to oversee the development and improvement of the programme.

The school falls under the Stichting Het Rijnlands Lyceum  (Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation).

Applicants are required to complete an online profile, provide a supporting statement, and upload a CV. Applicants must provide details of three referees, of which one must be their most recent supervisor. If shortlisted, we will contact referees prior to interview. For teachers, we require one from the head of school or deputy head. Once shortlisted, interviews will be conducted by Skype or in person, depending on the nature of the position and the applicant's location.

In line with local regulations, all appointments are for a fixed term of one year, with a view to extending to a permanent contract after successful appraisal. Qualifications

Please know that in order to work for us, you must be a fully qualified teacher in accordance with the standards required by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO). Only candidates with full teaching certification and a valid teaching license in their home country will be considered for this role.

Successful candidates require a Bachelor's (or Masters for upper Secondary Education roles) plus a Postgraduate Level qualification in Education.  The degree and teaching qualification must be for the subject that you will be teaching, in order to be recognized by DUO.

For applicants from the UK, you will have completed the PGCE and been awarded QTS plus successful completion of the NQT induction year.

Child Safeguarding

Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.

To this end, the leadership team is required to conduct an oral reference check by directly contacting the current or previous employer. 

Furthermore, those who are appointed at The International School of The Hague are required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct (in Dutch: VOG). Your appointment with The Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation takes place on condition that you obtain a VOG. Needless to say, Rijnlands will reimburse all costs in relation thereto.
