We are seeking a casual Chef who will work to support a variety of functions and catering requirements of St Columban’s College. The functions and other catering opportunities occur at the discretion and organisation of the Trade Training Centre Leader and aim to provide the students within hospitality programs with value learning opportunities and industry placement. Therefore, working with students aged 15 and above is imperative to this role, as students will work with you for guidance and development of their skills. This role encompasses creativity and allows for flexibility and autonomy in creating menus and recipes.

You must be able to work independently as a leader and have the relevant experience and skills relevant to a high industry standard. In addition to catering requirements, you will also aspire to support the College in providing students and members of the community with access to trade level skill development as well as assisting in maintaining the commercial kitchen and function centre. You must also hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or above and hold at least 5 years relevant experience in industry. The ability to increase hours to a part time contract role would be considered for the right applicant.

Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Completing food ordering for allocated functions as per requirements.
• Works with TTC Leader to develop function menus.
• Completes requested catering requirements as indicated in the functions log and communicates with TTC Leader to negotiate working hours.
• Actively supervises and coaches students to complete food preparation and function duties.
• Ensures students follow the outlined procedures and expectations during rostered shifts.
• Supervises students completing the event area set up and pack down including table setting.
• Monitors safety, wastage and sustainability of the kitchen during rostered shifts.
• Maintains and completes deep cleaning of large equipment in the commercial kitchen once per term
• Maintains the quality of the cold room and pantry spaces during functions by using correct stock rotation and food quality checks.
• May also participate by negotiation in the following: Student catering projects and events, cookery classes, café preparation and assistance.

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019
