We are seeking an excellent Catering & Hospitality teacher within our Art, Design & Technology department. The ideal candidate will be available from February 2023.

Who we are:

At Key Stage 3 we take a holistic perspective on Art, Design & Technology, as we believe that all of the strands complement each other in some way, which ultimately makes our students better designers.

Subjects within Art, Design & Technology are very popular at Key Stage 4 and are becoming increasingly popular at Key Stage 5, with a number of students going on to study various design subjects at some of the country’s top universities and art schools.

The department prides itself on its innovation and excellence in moving practice on to support student development and are looking for a candidate who is willing to contribute to this evolution.

Southfields Academy offers a comprehensive and well thought out support programme for Early Career Teachers led by Senior Staff and Lead Practitioners.

Southfields Academy is a thriving non-selective secondary academy located in south west London, with excellent facilities and set in attractive grounds.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who shares a passion and love for food and who will strive for the best for our students. Ideally, you will be able to teach Catering and Hospitality to the WJEC Level 1 / 2 specification. You will share your enthusiasm for the industry with our students and use your experience to guide them through the written exam and practical content. You will have the skills to be able to adapt your teaching to the needs of the cohort to enable them to achieve the best possible grade.

The successful candidate will also be required to teach all aspects of ADT at Key Stage 3, including 3D, graphics, cooking, textiles and art.

Who we are

Southfields Academy was a stand-alone converter academy situated in South West London on the Southfields - Earlsfield border and in 2018 founded the Southfields Multi-Academy Trust with its partner Linden Lodge School.  

The Academy is the modern incarnation of Southfields School which was founded in 1949. The school was founded on the principles of providing a truly comprehensive education for local children encompassing the very best in academic rigour and the provision of outstanding opportunities in applied learning and vocational subjects.  These principles are still the driving force of the academy. Staff benefits

In addition to competitive salaries, subscription to the Teachers' Pension Scheme and for Support Staff the Local Government Pension Scheme, Southfields Academy has a great deal to offer those that work there.  

Staff are automatically enrolled as members of the Aspire Centre which is the Academy's onsite sports centre and adult learning facility.  Staff can use the fitness suite and the swimming pool during supervised sessions before the school day begins and on some nights after school.

Staff are provided with tea and coffee during break time and there is a designated staff counter in the dining room at which staff can purchase hot food, salads, sandwiches and soup at cost price during the school day.

The Academy has a private day nursery on site at which staff can enrol their children and at which a discount is available for Academy staff.  Subject to the position and to negotiation with the Principal part time working is supported at all levels.
