Castle EAST School are seeking to appoint a Catering Staff Member who will work in the kitchen to be a part of our special school for pupils with Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs, starting in September. This is a unique and extremely exciting opportunity to play a role in creating a truly outstanding provision where pupils with specific needs genuinely excel.

The successful individual will not necessarily have experience of working in a provision for pupils with special needs; irrespective of your experience, training will be fully provided and form part of the school induction process for all staff.

This will be a truly unique environment which will provide excellent development for staff whilst working in partnership with parents, colleagues and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils. All of our staff will work tirelessly and meticulously to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people within the school.


JOB DESCRIPTION

To plan, prepare and provide high quality food and beverage service for staff and pupils at Castle EAST School in line with Health & Safety Food Hygiene regulations.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages to the required standard

• To follow menu plans agreed with the Catering Manager at Bungay High School

• To take responsibility for the supervision of kitchen staff as required

• To assist the Catering Manager with the preparation of menu plans

• To follow the menu and recipes agreed

• To occasionally assist with special functions which may be outside of normal working hours

• To carry out cleaning duties within the kitchen and dining areas as required

• To follow sound hygiene practices and compliance

• To ensure that health and safety regulations are observed in working practices and complete checks and paperwork as agreed with Catering Manager

• To assist with the ordering, issue and recording of catering supplies as required

• To assist with the operation of control procedures as required

• To hold, with the Catering Manager, regular meetings

• To report immediately any accidents, fire, theft, loss, damage, or unfit food or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible.
