Job overview

The mission of Taipei European School (TES) is to provide educational excellence and European culture and values within the context of Taiwanese society.

The School has attracted regional and worldwide attention with its unique model for integrating British, French, German and High School sections in terms of their curricula, administration, finance, buildings and facilities. Taipei British School, Ecole Francaise de Taipei and Deutsche Schule Taipei began around 1990 in response to the needs of expatriate families living in Taipei. The schools soon realized that there was much to be gained by joining forces to establish a combined European campus, and moved onto a shared campus in 1992. TES is now a single legal entity operating through a non-profit Foundation and comprising the original British, French and German school sections plus a High School established in 2002.

TES has grown steadily since its establishment and now has 1,700 students of some 50 nationalities with a target enrolment of around 1,800. TES operates from two campuses with well-appointed, modern facilities and has a total staff of around 400. Development of a new campus broke ground in June 2017 and consists of 3 stages. Upon completion, the school will offer state of the art buildings that are purpose-built for 21st century learning and will be some of the best in the region.

TES is also well supported by the various foreign institutes as well as the international chambers of commerce and foreign businesses in Taipei.

Owing to the planned departure of the CEO, the Board of Directors is seeking to appoint a seasoned CEO effective August 1, 2018, to lead the transformation of the school. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working effectively with the senior executive leadership team, the CEO must be an outstanding strategic and people leader, an expert in operation and communication excellence, with in-depth knowledge and experience of the international school market. The CEO will lead the senior executive leadership team to build upon the strategic plan and vision, develop and implement appropriate action plans, lead in the School’s Advancement initiatives, and promote an inclusive school culture. By providing leadership, direction, and encouragement, the CEO will inspire and maintain high standards of teaching and learning, and provide an environment where students, teachers, and staff can flourish. As the face of TES, the CEO will engage, connect, develop, promote, and communicate in order to build and sustain positive and enduring relationships with TES’ internal and external communities.

Taipei European School (TES) is an independent, co-educational day school, which was formed through the amalgamation of The Taipei British School (TBS), Ecole Française de Taipei (EFT) and Deutsche Schule Taipei (DST). It now operates as a single European entity through a non-profit making Foundation.

The school has attracted worldwide attention with its unique model for integrating British, French and German sections in terms of curricula, administration, finance, buildings and facilities. A rapidly-expanding school, TES is now home to 1,700 students from 50 different nationalities.

Following the success of this integration model for younger children, it was further enhanced when our High School was opened in 2002, catering for students from all three school sections. Since the development of the High School Section and introduction of the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, a graduating cohort of students gain places at many of the top universities around the world, principally in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Canada, Australia and Taiwan.

Our school now comprises four sections: British Primary Section, French Section (including bilingual programme), German Section and British Secondary and High School Section. TES operates on two separate sites. The Swire European Primary Campus is located at WenLin Road in ShiLin, accommodating the younger students, and the Swire European Secondary Campus is located in Yang Ming Shan, catering for students from the age of 11 to 18 years.

We are fully accredited by two of the world’s leading accreditation bodies: the Council of International Schools (CIS) based in Europe and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) based in the USA. This joint accreditation provides further evidence of our commitment to excellence.

Taipei European School is an IB World School, member of FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia), Centre for University of Cambridge International Examinations and affiliated to AEFE (Agence pour l'enseignement français à l'étranger) and BVA-ZfA (Bunderverwaltungsamt-Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen).
