The academy is seeking to appoint an exceptional Chaplain to join the Leadership Team.  

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is a thriving Church of England school, commended by Ofsted for its ‘inclusive approach, which seeks to support all pupils’. Led by a dedicated team with ‘strong moral and ethical foundation[s]’, our shared mission for ‘improving the life chances of all [our] pupils is at the very centre of [our] work’ (Ofsted, 2017).

The academy is seeking to appoint an exceptional Chaplain to join the Leadership Team.  The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding the Christian ethos of the academy, enabling us to ensure that all children do have the courage of their own well-founded convictions, to make wise decisions that will allow them to celebrate their talents and fulfil their God-given potential and live life to the full. 

The successful candidate will:

·        Be a dynamic, passionate and committed leader who wants to improve the life chances of young people

·        Be able to provide spiritual and pastoral support to the students and staff of the academy

·        Be able to support and further develop the spiritual, religious and liturgical life of the academy

·        Inspire, motivate and support our students to have a sense of self-worth, pride in achievement and a self confidence to make their own wise decisions

·        Foster a sense of community with students, staff, parents, governors and the wider community

 

As Chaplain, you will join a growing and supportive team in addition to:

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
