Job overview

Chaplain

Commencing either April or September 2019

Applications are invited for this very important whole-College role, reporting directly to the Head.  The Chaplaincy spans both Prep and Senior Schools and therefore the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with Wycliffe’s 700+ children aged 3-18.

The Chaplain is not there only for those who share the Christian faith but for the entire school community and will be expected to encourage spirituality in all people, whatever their background or creed.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the capability to provide theological, moral and spiritual leadership to pupils, parents and staff across the Wycliffe community.

Candidates will almost certainly be able to teach a curriculum subject to GCSE and A Level although those without teaching qualifications should not be put off from applying by this ‘preference’.  However, to be appointed, someone who is not a qualified teacher would need to be able to commit to making an enthusiastic and wide-ranging contribution to the extra-curricular life of the school.

The role is term-time-only.  Working hours will vary and will include weekdays, evenings (focusing especially on presence in Boarding Houses) and weekends.  Appropriate accommodation might be provided for an exceptional candidate for at least the first two years in post.

Wycliffe is a special place to work enjoying superb facilities, a beautiful environment and location, a reputation for pastoral and extra-curricular excellence and an idiosyncratic heritage.  Further details of the School are available on the College website www.wycliffe.co.uk

Completed applications should be sent by Friday 4th January (12 noon) to the Head (Mr. Nick Gregory) c/o Wycliffe College, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire GL10 2JQ or via email (head@wycliffe.co.uk).

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 22nd January.
