Approximately 80% of the 110 students come from overseas countries including China, Latvia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore and Vietnam. The college has built up a strong reputation for excellence in teaching all subjects with particular emphasis on the sciences, mathematics and economics. 60% of students go on to a Russell Group university. This year we have five offers to Oxbridge.
The Chemistry Department
Chemistry is a very popular option with students currently taking A-level and GCSE. They are taught in groups with a maximum of nine students, but the College’s average class size is six.
The A-level course attracts students who are combining it with Biology, Physics or Mathematics in order to pursue a course in Medical or Natural Sciences. Others seek to gain entry onto an Engineering degree course and a few may combine Chemistry with Arts or Social Science subjects.
The students take the Edexcel examination for A Level and follow the Cambridge International Examination board for IGCSE.
