Job overview

HEART Academies is a dynamic and focused multi-academy trust made up of four schools in Bedford. HEART’s vision is to develop into a nationally known best practice hub, harnessing the educational expertise offered by its sponsor, The Harpur Trust, which operates four highly successful independent schools in Bedford.

HEART Academies now seeks an inspiring Chief Executive to grow its reach and impact further. The appointee will shape the evolution of the Trust as it seeks to build on its initial successes in bringing together a Secondary Academy and three Primary Schools in addressing disadvantage and to achieve outstanding outcomes for all pupils. Working with a newly appointed Chair, HEART’s next Chief Executive will embed an ethos of collaboration and continuous improvement and an entrepreneurial infrastructure.

The new Chief Executive will be a creative, determined and empathetic leader with a track record of success in managing complexity and effecting positive change. She or he will be a keen strategist, with the intellect and personal authority to lead and develop a MAT; and have the open communication style to build close connections with The Harpur Trust and wider partners. The appointee will be flexible, energetic, entrepreneurial and resilient, and will demonstrate a profound resonance with the transformative power of education. Prior experience in education is not essential and the Trust welcomes applications from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector and public-sector backgrounds.

HEART Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust established in 2017 comprising of Bedford Academy, Cauldwell Primary, Shackleton Primary and Shortstown Primary.

The core aim of the partnership is to create a family of academies who are the heart of their community delivering great education and improving life chances for all; we value the dreams and aspirations of everyone in our community.

Our overwhelming belief is that every child can be successful, both personally and academically, with early and effective help from staff that know and value them as an individual. We have high expectations of all members of our schools: children, young people, professionals alike are challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

Adopting a ‘stronger together’ approach and a commitment to positive collaboration enables each academy within the Trust to celebrate what they already do well whilst providing opportunities to ensure continued development and improvement across all academies within the Trust.

The HEART Academies Trust is committed to:

· Maintaining a continuous and rigorous focus on raising standards, particularly in English and Mathematics.

· Ensuring all children and young people receive high quality teaching every lesson, every day.

· Remaining non-selective and determined to value the abilities and achievements of all its students. Staff will be committed to providing the best possible learning for every child.

· Remaining focused on providing the best possible education for the community of each school.
