Job overview

Chief Executive – The de Ferrers Trust

Burton upon Trent

Competitive six figure package

At The de Ferrers Trust, we are responsible for educating some 4,000 young people in Burton upon Trent and its surrounding areas. Recognising the local need, we became a Multi-Academy Trust in 2015 and now have six academies within the Trust. Our aim is to create a network of successful academies that allow young people to fulfil their potential and prepare them for their lives ahead. We are positioning our academies to be the hubs of their local communities with the aim to rejuvenate lifelong learning. We believe every student is entitled to high quality teaching and support.

The retirement of our Chief Executive creates an opportunity for a new leader. We are ambitious for our young people, and want the Trust to be a beacon of excellence where everyone feels valued, included and proud. At the heart of this is the need to secure outstanding teaching and learning within all our academies. This will release the potential of our young people and allow them to grasp opportunities previously they could only dream of.

With an exceptional track record of leadership, you will have the vision and drive to make our aims a reality. Your ambition for our students and the Trust as a whole, coupled with high emotional intelligence and exceptional people skills are essential for establishing the right relationships, both inside and outside of the organisation. Whilst all these qualities are important, your ability to understand, relate to and engage our community, will set you apart from other leaders.

Following on from 10 years as a specialist Technology College, de Ferrers became an Academy in January 2012. It has grown into a large, split-site, co-educational institution catering for the full range of students from ages 11-18. In 2015 The de Ferrers Academy became a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).  Since then, four of our partner primary schools converted to academies within the Trust; Horninglow Primary, Lansdowne Infant, Eton Park Junior and Richard Wakefield (C.E.) Academies.  Together with The Pingle Academy and Granville Academy in South Derbyshire, we are now a trust of 7 academies crossing between the Staffordshire and Derbyshire boarders.

The Strategic Vision

The strategic plan for The de Ferrers Trust is to ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.

Our PRIDE values of Partnership, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence are the foundations of our Trust and the community we serve.

Employer of Choice

We strive to be your ‘Employer of Choice’ and are totally committed to the ongoing support of our colleagues.
