Job overview

Venturers Trust is seeking to appoint an innovative, strategic and inspirational Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organisation into the next phase of development.

A newly established multi-academy trust based in Bristol, Venturers Trust was founded in 2017 and comprises primary, secondary, all-age schools and a special school. The Trust is responsible for eight academies, 3,200 pupils and 700 staff, with immediate plans to grow our sixth form and special needs provision.

Working closely with two exceptionally supportive and engaged sponsors: The Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol, the CEO will shape and guide the Trust’s strategy in line with our vision to provide an outstanding education for every pupil, regardless of their background or starting point.

Our academies are located in two clusters, one in South Bristol and the other in East Central Bristol, and we are privileged to work with an incredibly diverse and vibrant set of communities. This exciting role offers a real opportunity to make a significant and life-long difference to the lives of young people from some of Bristol’s most disadvantaged communities and you will share our ambition to achieve outstanding outcomes for every student.

Whilst we do not seek to be the largest grouping of schools in the region, we aim to be the most respected, with the highest demonstrable impact and you will share our moral purpose to place the future of young people at the heart of everything we do.

As CEO, you will be responsible for the educational, organisational and financial performance of the Trust, the delivery of future growth and other strategic developments. You will be supported by a highly experienced and professional Central Trust Team, alongside an extremely effective and dedicated Trust Board, as well as our Principals who are collaborative, ambitious and motivated. Demonstrating a high level of personal integrity and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will create a team-orientated culture of best practice and continual improvement.

You will drive the educational performance of our academies to the benefit of both teaching and learning, leading by example to embed a shared commitment to achieve excellence. A confident ambassador, you will develop partnerships outside the Trust, encourage cross-Trust as well as MAT to MAT learning, and you will nurture leadership talent within Venturers Trust. An inspiring leader who embraces both challenge and opportunity with enthusiasm, the right candidate will thrive in this rewarding role.

The Venturers Trust have engaged Executives Online to manage the search and selection process for this appointment. To learn more about this exciting opportunity and for an information pack, please contact Roz Read, Research Associate, on roz.read@eoexecutives or 01962893300.

Completed applications required by 09.00 on 04 June 2018.

Interviews will take place over two stages: 12, 19 and 20 June 2018.

Venturers Trust is committed to equality, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all staff. We are an equal opportunities employer that recruits on merit and we welcome applications from all members of the community.
