Job overview

City of London Academies Multi-Academy Trust – Chief Executive Officer

The City of London Corporation became a sponsor of academies in 2003, when it opened City of London Academy, Southwark. Subsequently the City Corporation has sponsored a primary academy, co-sponsored two secondary academies, and is in the pre-opening phase for two new primary academies. The Sutton Trust’s report, Chain Effects 2015: The impact of academy chains on low-income students, recognises our chain of academies as being one of the most effective in relation to outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

Building on this, we are now establishing a multi-academy trust, the City of London Academies Trust, which will embark on an ambitious plan to enable us to make an even greater impact on the quality of education for young people in London. This includes the planning and opening of four new academies over the next three years. Underpinning our work is a belief that every student is entitled to high quality academic, creative, sporting, linguistic, and personal development opportunities.

As the first Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the realisation of the vision, strategic aims and core values of the Trust. Working with our academies, you will look to secure outstanding provision which delivers high attainment and value added outcomes, to enable young people to have the opportunities previously they could only dream of.

With an exceptional track record of leadership in schools, you will share our ambitions for our students and the values of the organisation. Your ability to think strategically, alongside your business acumen and influencing skills will set you apart. Emotional intelligence and exceptional people skills are vital in such a high profile role. You will be equally comfortable working with the Board and partner organisations as you are engaging with students.
