Job overview

If you’re a financially astute and entrepreneurial leader with lots of drive and resilience and a successful track record in the high-level leadership of an educational or similarly complex organisation, consider a move to the Baylis Court Trust as Chief Executive Officer.

We’re a thriving Multi Academy Trust (MAT) based in Reading consisting of two high performing secondary schools and one infant school. We’re also currently going through a ‘due diligence’ process to bring a recently approved primary school on board. Our current CEO, who has been here seven years, was instrumental in taking us to MAT status. We are now looking for a similarly inspirational leader to carry on the great work to date and take us to even greater heights in the future.

Our objective is to grow the Trust to a size of a minimum of six schools. This is your chance to be the driving force that makes that happen. As well as providing strategic and operational leadership to the Trust, you will collaborate with other schools and academies and play your part nationally in the academy’s movement. We will also rely on you to develop and expand the current services offered and introduce new provisions and partnerships that will benefit the local communities. Working with the Board and Executive Leadership team to achieve the Trust’s business strategy, plans and targets will be important too. And, when it comes to ensuring long term sustainability through effective governance, sound finances and the delivery of positive outcomes for pupils, again, we will count on you.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and with Qualified Teacher Status. What’s more, you can bring a proven track record of successful school improvement and an excellent understanding of MAT governance and Accounting Officer roles as set out in the relevant handbooks. Used to working alongside a Board of Trustees or a governing body, you are adept at influencing others too, including governors, head teachers and principals. Crucially, you have a real flair for setting, and successfully delivering challenging performance targets and a natural ability to manage, develop, coach and mentor a senior leadership team.

Welcome to The Thames Learning Trust

Message from Richard Kearsey (Chief Executive Officer of Thames Learning Trust)

Welcome to The Thames Learning Trust. Our Trust is a multi-academy family of primary, infant and secondary schools located in Berkshire and Hampshire.  The Trust, formed in 2015, now includes six schools with over 2700 young people.  The Trust was created in order to gain strength through working with each other, sharing expertise, resources and knowledge, and this desire for collaborative improvement is reflected in our motto ‘Growing Stronger Together’.  Our Vision is to become a medium* sized Trust, recognised by its stakeholders and the communities in which we operate for its transformational and life-enhancing approach to the education of children.  Through working in collaboration, we have been able to provide better resources and learning for the children in our schools.

Our schools share a determined commitment to ensure that communities are well served by their local school.  As a family of schools:

  • We are quality driven. As our family of Academies grows, we will ensure that high academic standards are at the core of our work.
  • We value uniqueness. Our Academies will grow and develop whilst maintaining their own uniqueness.
  • We put children first. We will ensure that children are at the centre of all of our work and that we strive to give them the best start in life.
  • We work in partnership. We will work in close partnership with all of our stakeholders
  • We encourage development. Putting teacher development and improving teaching and learning at the heart of what we do.

Our aim is to create a family of remarkable schools that work together to ensure that all our young people enjoy learning and expect to be successful. With sustained success, lives change, communities thrive and we all benefit.
