The Role

As Group Chief Financial Officer with accountability for the successful financial performance of the Group, you will lead the financial strategy for the Group whilst managing the highly complex funding structures to ensure the long term and sustainable future for the College.

Working in partnership with the Chief Executive, Board and the wider Strategic Management Team, you will help shape the strategic direction of the Group, whilst reviewing performance, developing commercial partnerships, as well as overseeing the Group's financial control and reporting functions.

The Person

The successful appointee will be an accomplished and qualified finance professional, experienced in working within a customer centric organisation of similar scale and complexity. You will have a proven track record of success in a senior financial leadership role in an organisation of commensurate complexity. An appreciation of the skill development and training sectors and diverse, complex funding methodologies would be advantageous.

Derby College is a mixed, non-denominational, further education college, situated in the centre of Derby in Derbyshire. The college has 5,061 students enrolled on 16 to 19 study programmes, from entry level to level 3, including specialist vocational qualifications, and the more traditional AS and A Level programmes. 

The further education college delivers most of its provision at two main sites in the city centre. Between 2014 and 2017 it has invested around £200 million, generated from government grants, employer contributions and learners, to deliver its programme of education and skills training.
