Job overview

Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) -
The Hamblin Education Trust

Salary up to £70,000 (depending upon experience)
Full Time (52 weeks)
Altrincham/Trafford area - actual location to be determined

The Chief Financial Operating Officer (CFOO) is a newly created post within The Hamblin Education Trust.  It
provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who shares our values and ethos to help shape,
develop and manage all noneducational aspects of the Trust’s operations, in particular the finance and
support operations, with the primary purpose of ensuring the best possible educational provision for every
student in each of the Trust’s schools.

The Hamblin Education Trust is currently comprised of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, a high
achieving, selective Grammar School and North Cestrian School, a co educational school. Two new schools, Stretford Grammar and Sale High School are in the process of due diligence to join the Trust.

As other schools become part of the Trust, the ethos is to recognise each school’s individuality, whilst
working collaboratively across the different schools.  The challenge for the CFOO will be to ensure the
continued local identity and ethos within each individual school, whilst delivering efficiency, effectiveness
and innovative practices across the Trust as a whole.  This will require proven relationship management
skills and the ability to balance and deliver against competing priorities.

The CFOO will report to the Executive Head and will contribute to the strategic development of the Trust.
The individual will provide operational leadership for all the business, financial and support activities of the
Trust  and be responsible for the flow of information to the Headteachers,  the Board, Local Governing
bodies and where necessary, external parties.  The post will be supported by a School Business Support
Manager in each school plus individuals across schools responsible for IT, Health and Safety and Estate
Management.

An essential requirement is for the candidate to have a professional qualification in finance or accounting
e.g. CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA and should be educated to degree level or equivalent with experience of working at
a senior level within a school/academy or commercial organisation.

In addition to proven people management and relationship management skills, there will be a need to
demonstrate competencies in commercial acumen, organisational skills, resilience, perseverance and
adaptability in being able to deliver high quality finance, compliance, IT and business support activities.

This is a role which we believe will be incredibly rewarding as it will be instrumental in developing the
‘blueprint’ for excellence in the Trust going forward.

Further details are contained within the job description and person specification.  Additional information
on the post is available on both the Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and Sale High School websites.

Please apply by submitting your application form and a covering letter outlining how you believe you meet
our requirements and what you can offer. To obtain an application pack, arrange a visit or for an informal
chat about working at the School please contact Diane Jamieson at
diane.jamieson@visionforeducation.co.uk or call on 0191 267 6555 or 07713 323792.

The closing date is 12noon on Tuesday 4th July 2017 and your completed application should be returned to
Diane Jamieson via email before then to be considered. It is expected that interviews will take place during
the week beginning 17th July.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore the successful candidate will be
required to undertake a criminal records check via the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
