Job overview

Stephenson Trust is committed to supporting the mental health needs of our students and has established its own multi-disciplinary team, which includes psychologists, assistant psychologists, social workers, counsellors and psychotherapists to work with students (5-18 years), families, and staff across the Trust.

This is an ideal opportunity to be creative in your practice in engaging young people and their families. You will be given professional freedom to innovate and any support you need will be provided, including CPD, clinical supervision and resources.

You will have manageable caseloads, control of your own diary and dedicated time for administration.  You will be given the space and time to create strategies and interventions that will help children and young people get the most out of life.

The roles are valued by the Trust and include consultation, teaching, supervision, staff support, and direct work. You can come from a wide range of backgrounds and experience and will want to make a difference to the social and emotional well-being of our students.

Stephenson Academy is a successful 80 place special school, which opened in 2012. It has a main site, which caters for 11-16 year olds. We have an associated independent sixth form provision for 16-19 year olds.

As a specialist academy we cater for students who have Education and Health Care Plans with an identified primary need of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), many with associated challenging behaviour. Many of our students have additional special educational needs such as speech, language and communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mental health difficulties.
